Tuesday, 18 May 2010 10:07

A human rights quiz competition among Advanced level students in Trincomalee district was successfully completed in 2009 and 543 students participated from Muthur, Kinniya, Trincomalee and Kantale zonal educational areas and 44 participants were awarded prizes at divisional and district levels. The availability of young leaders from schools in Trincomalee district who were aware of human rights was an important output of this programme.

Considering the success of this project, the National Peace Council believes that planning and implementing the same project will have a good impact.  And has planned with the support of the Ministry of Education of Eastern Province to conduct a Human Rights quiz competition among schoolchildren in Ampara and Batticaloa.
